LVDT position sensors for critical energy sector applications
The energy sector uses NewTek LVDT Position Sensors as metrology tools in ensuring the proper operation of different power systems. For example, position sensors monitor gas turbine servo controls, fuel valve position, and micro fuel valve openings in the operation of gas turbines. RSK-PMT Remote Switch Kit for Pad-Mounted Transformers
The CBS ArcSafe RSK-PMT remote switch kit for pad-mounted transformers permits workers to operate a transformer from outside the arc-flash hazard boundary. When opening panel doors to access the switch on the high-voltage/line side of a transformer, a worker can be exposed to energized conductors on the low-voltage side, which typically carry higher current and the potential of high incident energy. The RSK-PMT allows for an insulated hot stick to be inserted through a modified door port from outside the transformer. The hot stick serves as an interface between the inside switch and a CBS ArcSafe remote switch actuator (RSA) on the outside, used to turn the inside switch to the desired position.

Constructed without internal electronics, AC-operated LVDTs operate reliably in industrial applications with high, low or unpredictable temperature fluctuations, shock, vibration, and chemical, or radiation exposure. While the AC-operated LVDTs operate in a hostile area, feedback is retrieved by an LVDT Signal Conditioner that converts it to a digital signal for use in a computer or programmable logic controller located in a benign area. For example, LVDT Position Sensors used in the process control systems of paper mills provide dimensional feedback on the tension arm or roller position to control product thickness. The paper mills pose dangers to operators with larger rollers moving at high speeds, caustic and corrosive fluids splashing in unpredictable places, and temperatures fluctuating at different points in the process. Legacy mechanical position inductors or dial indicators used for position measurement may require an operator to approach the measured object. In addition to risking exposure to hazardous conditions, measurements may be hard to access in tight spaces or close to operating machinery.

The CL26 is a steel disc coupling with a locking assembly shaft attachment. It features a steel body with thicker plate springs than classic disc couplings, and each shaft end is locked to the coupling through a shrink disc and screw connection. The combination of a steel body, thicker plate springs, and a stronger connection to the shafts increases rigidity and torque transmission while still maintaining zero backlash and flexible shaft characteristics.

The double clamp disc coupling is a heavy duty version of the classic disc coupling. Double clamp disc couplings have a steel body instead of an aluminum one, and the shafts are secured on each side by a double clamping connection. With a thicker plate spring made with more metallic layers than classic couplings, they are an excellent choice when high rigidity and large torque transmission are needed.
